Castle Mountain Watercolor Tutorial Mountain

Castle Mountain, as viewed on the way to Lake Louise, rises out of the misty valley and is bathed in the warm glow of sunrise. In this tutorial you can see how to paint a rugged, warm mountain floating above the cloudy river valley. This is my second tutorial showing how to make soft clouds with wet in wet watercolours, and highly textured mountains using a cut up plastic card (my old Sunshine ski pass).

See the final painting in the Canadian Wilds gallery here.
